Are you too impatient in business?

A wonderful client of ours stated recently that she’s impatient. That wasn’t big news … many of the business owners we work with are. In fact, it’s one of the things that drives them to success.

But this particular business owner gave the analogy that she’d been planting seeds, only to dig them up two days later wondering why they hadn’t become fully grown plants!

Are you too impatient in business? - impatient in business

In business, we plant seeds daily. We design our products and services, we define our ideal client and market to them, and we call prospects. At times we get frustrated that after all that work, the results don’t appear straight away.

Just like the plant example, we need to focus on what we can control. We can plant the seed, water it, give it the best soil, and protect it, but then sometimes we need to wait. Sometimes the plant needs a little time to get going.

Impatience can definitely be a great trait in business, but it’s better to be impatient about something directly in your control. Do the work, then give it time. Make sure you’re not digging up or abandoning your work before it’s had a chance to grow.
