Why do business owners use a business coach?

If you’re a business owner, you might wonder why others use a business coach.

You’ll know that challenges in business are frequent, and things don’t always go to plan.

  • Maybe you’re not seeing the financial return you expected from your business.
  • You may feel out of control, and that your business has grown too big, too fast.
  • Your team may not be getting along, or you aren’t sure how to manage them.
  • Perhaps you feel out of your depth in marketing, sales, or systemisation.

Or everything may be going so well that you want to grow or duplicate your business, but you’re not sure how to take the next step.

At times you’ve probably sought advice from friends, industry peers, books, podcasts, and the internet.

But you want the reassurance of someone who really understands your business. Someone who has specialist business knowledge who you can strategise with; call on when needed; and bounce ideas off. Someone to keep you accountable to doing all the things you want to do, but never find time for.

A business coach can help you find the easier path to business success

The many reasons business owners use a business coach

Business owners use a business coach to help with strategy, ideas, resources, advice, guidance, support, and encouragement. We can’t speak for other business coaches, but we can tell you what it’s like to work with us.

We start by looking at where you are now, and where you want to be. We’ll help you assess your values and create goals for your business and personal life.

The program we design for you is based around your goals; your unique circumstances and resources; and your preferred pace of getting things done. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model of business improvement.

If we identify limiting thought patterns that have held you back in the past, we’ll help you move past them and find new ways to approach old problems.

To improve efficiency (and therefore profit) together we’ll review and improve systems for your marketing, sales, production, and finances.

You’ll need your team supporting you and working towards your goals. We can develop them through:

  • leadership and management training
  • DISC behavioural profiling
  • team workshops
  • skills training, or
  • individual team member coaching sessions.

Although you may come to us wanting to work primarily on one aspect of your business, we will look at it holistically. Your business is an ecosystem where each part affects the other. Our approach ensures that the improvements you make are sustainable.

Your Yellow Coaching Business Coaches

Our coaching is provided by a team of two coaches with different approaches. While both are trained and experienced in all aspects of business, one is a talented speaker with a strong financial and management background; the other a skilled writer versed in marketing, communication, and client relationship management. In the majority of your sessions they will work as a team to ensure all aspects are covered.

Through our online portal, we will provide you with templates, guides and resources for each stage of your business growth. We will also point you towards other valuable resources, such as this goal setting method by Brian Tracy. If you need a specialist to do the work for you, we’ll introduce you to local people we trust.

All we ask is that you are committed, not just interested, in getting new results for your business.

At a minimum, we’ll meet each fortnight at our office in Morpeth (or by Zoom or phone). We will add sessions as needed to help you and your team. We will also be available by phone and email in between sessions for support, guidance, and to manage any unexpected challenges or opportunities you face.

Your investment will be a monthly retainer, to assist with your budgeting and cashflow. We will ensure a quick return on investment so that coaching pays for itself.

As you achieve your goals, together we’ll strategise for the next stage of your business development.

The majority of our clients work with us for several years, and some for longer than ten years. Some stay until specific goals are achieved, and others reset their goals with us regularly as they and their business grow. While there is no minimum time frame for coaching, we suggest you plan for at least 12 months so you can maximise what you will achieve.

Our job is not to do the work for you, but to coach you to expand your own skills, knowledge and ability, so you can master and grow your business.
